The Corn Field Maze

Shanna was with her friends Jack and Naomi. They went to a pumpkin patch as it was almost halloween. The pumpkin patch they went to had a corn field maze., Tthat maze was known as the longest and trickiest one in the world. Shanna approached the corn field in amazement, “Legend has it, who ever enters the corn field maze, never leaves…”

Jack looked at her in mockery, “Oh please Shanna, we’re grown adults! Who believes in that bull when you’re as mature as we are!” Naomii and Shanna looked at him with unimpressed expressions on their faces as Jack flexed his muscles; apparently that showed maturity.

Naomi approached Jack and she pulled his arms down, “Jack, stop that’s weird. Besides! We’re freshmen in college! Sure we’re legal adults but that doesn’t mean we are adults.” Jack pouted like a child and Shanna chuckled.

Jack crossed his arms and gave puppy eyes to Naomi, “Can we at least go in after we pick our pumpkins?” Naomi nodded with a smile as she chuckled.

Shanna immediately went up to them in panic, “Excuse me, I had no say in this!”

Naomi looked at Shanna and raised an eyebrow at her, “Shanna, it’s a kids corn field maze! It’s not like there’s a huge demon inside ready to eat us.” She chuckled and patted Shanna on the back.

“I guess you’re right..” Shanna took a deep breath and went to the actual pumpkin patch along with her friends. They each bought ong big pumpkins, all happy with their decisions. Jack ran to the corn field and sat down his pumpkin in excitement. He started jumping up and pointing to it like a little child. Namoi ran to it laughing at Jack as Shanna approached the maze quite anxious. It was free to go inside so people could easily walk in. Jack and Naomi started walking in when Shanna stopped them, “Are you sure you want to do this? What if there’s poison ivy!”

Naomi turned around and chuckled and Jack looked at her, “Oh please Shanna, Why would there be poison ivy where corn is? C’mon Naomi, let’s go.”

Shanna sat down on the ground leaning against some corn, “I’ll just sit here and wait for you!” Namoi rolled her eyes, and grabbed Shanna by the arm and dragged her inside. Shanna groaned and stood up dusting the dirt off of her.

An hour passes by…

The group has been going in circles. Every time they choose a different path, they end up in the same place each time. Shanna is scared out of her mind. “How about we go back to where we started instead of trying to find the end!” Shanna was hopeful Naomi and Jack would agree.

“Sorry Shanna, Jack tried that while you were on the floor having a panic attack and I was calming you down. There’s something weird about this place..”

“Yeah thanks for calming me dow-”

GRRROOWWLLL.

The group looked around trying to find out where the sound came from. Shanna was about to cry and Jack was pouting like a child when Naomi tried to be brave and was searching behind the corn… except she couldn’t push the corn appart.

“NO CHEATING!”

Naomi jumped back in fear as well as Shanna started crying. Jack backed up into the corn and he got electricuted. Naomi found a stick on the ground and poked him with the stick. ShHe knelt down beside him and put her finger under his nose to see if he was breathing. “I-is he alive!?” Shanna sniffed trying to stop the crying. Naomi pulled her finger back, her face white as if she saw a ghost.

“He… he’s…”

“Alive? Oh please tell me he’s alive!”

“NO YOU IDIOTS! HE’S DEAD! THAT’S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU CHEAT!”

“B-but we didn’t cheat! Well Jack didn’t. Naomi was trying to find that growling sound, Jack just backed up in fear!” Shanna was too upset and fearful to cry, instead she got a headache.

“AH, SO THERE IS MORE THAN ONE CHEATER? WELL THEN!”

All of athe sudden, a dark figure forms in front of Shanna and Naomi. He seemed to have a dark cloak and he was barefoot. His eyes were glowing red. Shanna and Naomi look at him in blank fear.

“SO WHICH ONE IS NAOMI?”

Both frightened, they silently revealed who the one who was called “Naomi”. The demon smiled with a devilish smile and raised his grey hand that would glow a dark majestic purple. Naomi stared at it in amazement. He pressed his thumb against her forehead and she looked at him confused when her eyes rolled back and became black when red veins become visible on her skin… they were growing. All of the sudden they burst and Naomi was screaming in pain and terror as she bled to death. Shanna wanted to cry but instead she smiled. She got all these thoughts in her head about Naomi, she always was a bit bossy.

Shanna's thoughts...

She always thought she was the boss, she thought we were her minions. She thought she had control over me. She thought she was better than everyone. She thought she was the best. Well she’s not! She never was and never will be now that she’s dead. She’s dead… SHE’S DEAD!

Back to the narrator...

The demon man saw her smile and he walked behind her, “WHY ARE YOU SMILING? YOUR FRIEND IS DEAD!” Shanna looked up at him and clenched her fists as she was still smiling, “She wasnt my friend, she thought she was in control. She thought she can control all of us! Well she’s dead now! She can live in hell!” Shanna let out a maniacal laugh. The demon looked at her and just touched her on her forehead. The same thing that happened to Naomi happened to Shanna.

“OK I’M A DEMON BUT THAT’S JUST CREEPY!”
